American National is seeking a full time, Investment Accounting Manager who will report onsite at one of the following home office locations: League City, Texas; Houston, Texas; or Des Moines, Iowa. You will lead a team of accounting professionals who are responsible for the daily reconciliations of investment-related activities including, but not limited to, transactions, holdings, and bank balances.

What You'll Do:
• Inspire and motivate a team of accounting professionals to deliver accurate work in a deadline-driven environment
• Utilize appropriate software for accounting stock, bond, and option investments, as well as variable accounting and reporting functions
• Execute and optimize the organization's systems and workflows across all functions related to investment operations
• Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and ensure best practices
• Coordinate and assist the team with investment accounting reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
• Prepare and submit statutory financial reports required by various state insurance departments, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and internal leadership
• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly statutory reporting and effectively communicate the results
• Supervise the preparation and review of all statutory quarterly and annual filings to NAIC and state insurance departments
• Manage the preparation and review of annual statutory audited financials and coordinate audits with external auditors
• Research new accounting and reporting guidance and participate in cross-company teams to implement
• Administer the accounting system and related workflows to ensure consistent processes and accurate records
What We Are Looking For:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance preferred -Relevant work experience will be considered
• Professional corporate experience in investment accounting and insurance
• Formal leadership experience
• Knowledge of CAMRA, Clearwater, SAP, and ERP systems is beneficial
• CPA is a plus
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
