The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled IT Operations Engineer to join our team and assist with office/project site stand-ups, relocations, and demobilizations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in troubleshooting and deploying equipment, maintaining tickets, and providing excellent customer service. In this role, the IT Operations Engineer will work with the BV Facilities team to ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.

The Team
Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with office IT build-out preparation, including equipment setup (e.g., routers, switches, access points, and printers).
• Log material and maintain a chain of custody.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and deploy equipment.
• Create and maintain tickets, providing comprehensive and relevant updates.
• Interact with local customers and stakeholders to identify IT challenges and ensure customer satisfaction and productivity.
• Analyze and solve problems with attention to detail within the operations domains.
• Identify problems requiring escalation to the larger team.
• Escalate to senior team members as needed for advanced issues.
• Provide consistent and clear communication with customers and teammates.
• Follow established BV & OSHA safety standards while following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Management Responsibilities
Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel if needed.
• Applicants must be able to obtain any security clearances and background confirmation required by clients for sensitive projects and locations.
• Must use personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.
• Ability to lift 50lbs on an intermittent basis.
• OSHA 10 Hour Certification (or better)

Availability:
• Available to work weekends and off hours.
• Supervision – Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in IT operations or related field
• Strong knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and equipment deployment
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and customer service best practices
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree (in Business, Technology, Computer Science or related field), preferred or equivalent experience.
• Typically 8 years of related experience
• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications
Associate level vendor recognized certifications preferred:
• Cisco: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Assoc) Routing & Switching
• CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Assoc)
• Nokia: NRS I (Nokia Network Routing Specialist I)
• JNCIA-Junos, JNCDA (Design)
• Ciena: OC-A (Optical Communication Associate)

Work Environment/Physical Demands
• Normal office environment with a hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remote
• Ability to lift 50lbs on an intermittent basis.
• Sitting, talking, grasping, hearing, keyboard input, seeing, writing, reaching, stooping, crouching, walking, standing for extended periods of time.
