CAREER OPPORTUNITY – Junior Accountant
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team. This full-time role offers growth opportunities as our real estate portfolio continues to expand. While the primary focus initially will be on accounts payable and document management, the goal will be to expand into general accounting functions, that will involve analyzing and preparing financial statements, preparing adjusting entries, and assisting in year-end closings for tax return preparation. There will also be an opportunity to learn hospitality accounting. We are willing to train the right candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Review and enter invoices into accounting systems (contractors, tools, supplies, utilities, etc.)
· Assign property and GL codes prior to input in Yardi and QuickBooks
· Manage vendor relations, including 1099 filings and W-9 collections
· Correspond with vendors via email in a professional and timely manner
· Use Excel to extract, organize, and analyze data from QuickBooks and Yardi for internal reporting
· Monitor utility bills for accuracy and efficiency; assist in resolving discrepancies and requesting actual meter readings
· Oversee weekly payroll processing for management, maintenance and construction teams, ensuring accuracy in PTO tracking and reviewing ClockShark timesheets
· Prepare payroll reimbursements from the properties with overhead
· Vendor statement reconciliation
· Assist the senior accountant when needed in tenant communications, including rent payment processing (A/R), resolving inquiries, clarifying rent owed, lease terms, etc.
· Support the accounting department in month-end and year-end closing processes
· Prepare and analyze financial statements to submit to lenders either quarterly or annually as required in the loan covenants
· Perform general administrative duties as needed
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
· Two or more years of relevant work experience
· Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
· Previous experience working with a real estate company preferred
· Previous experience in Yardi and QuickBooks preferred
· Strong understanding of debits and credits, as well as general ledger accounting principles
· Familiarity with financial report interpretation and analysis is highly desirable
· Good decision making and analytical skills.
· Self-disciplined and able to work independently and within a team environment
· Proficient in English, excellent oral and written communication skills
