Law Practice Compliance Investigator
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for someone with the required level of financial management skills to join the Law Practice Compliance Investigator (LPCI) team at the Law Society of South Australia. This important role will advise and support the legal profession in the proper record keeping and use of trust accounts in line with best practices and regulatory requirements with the goal of ensuring high professional standards appropriate to public interest and protection. The appointee will be involved in delivering various education programs, maintaining and developing new guidelines and resources, providing phone and in-person assistance to Law Practices, undertaking routine compliance and cause-driven trust account investigations as well as investigating and quantifying suspected or actual losses in respect of defalcation or theft of client money.
We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate any or all of the following:
Experience in the use of up-to-date computerised accounting systems and computer assisted audit techniques.
Ability to manually and digitally re-create financial records.
Excellent computer literacy and keyboard skills across a range of applications including the presentation and analysis of data using digital resources and the maintenance and use of databases.
Experience in financial audits and compliance monitoring in a regulatory landscape.
Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia or CPA status with CPA Australia Ltd.
Registered Company Auditor status.
Law practice trust accounting and regulatory compliance experience.
Current working knowledge of law practice office systems and procedures.
Understanding of current cyber risks, money laundering and counter terrorism financing risks in a law practice environment.
Current experience within a law practice environment will be highly regarded.
