The Job:

Pleckgate High School seek to appoint a STEM Lead Teacher to join the school in January 2026. We would welcome full or part time applications for this exciting new post. This is a great opportunity for a well-qualified teacher in science, technology, mathematics or computer science who is keen to lead curriculum development across STEM subjects ensuring they are engaging, challenging and successful for pupils. You will work closely with the Head of Business, Technology & Computer Science and the Head of Science to create interdisciplinary learning opportunities and develop successfully pedagogical approaches across STEM subjects.

We are looking for someone who can develop partnerships with universities, industries and STEM organisations to enrich pupils’ experiences and raise the profile of STEM subjects within the school community

Applicants should have strong subject knowledge across STEM disciplines and an excellent degree in a STEM subject area. You should also have experience in teaching in STEM subjects and know how to make STEM accessible to all pupils as well as experience of achieving excellent outcomes. Experience designing and delivering extracurricular STEM activities, competitions and enrichment programmes would be advantageous.

What does this job do?
• To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated STEM curriculum for pupils and to support relevant curriculum areas.
• To arrange, lead and facilitate learning experiences which provide pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential in STEM subjects.
• To contribute to raising standards of student attainment in STEM subjects.
• To monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils as a teacher/form tutor.
• To share and support the Academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

What are the job requirements?
• Qualified to degree level in a STEM related discipline-based subject.
• Qualified teacher status.
• Ability to deliver high-quality lessons in STEM subjects to pupils of all ages and abilities.
• Experience of teaching science, technology, mathematics or engineering throughout the Key Stages and evidence of excellent outcomes.
• Experience of raising achievement in one or more STEM subjects.
• Experience of coordinating extracurricular activities.
• Up to date knowledge of STEM curriculum developments (including cross-curricular opportunities).
• A detailed understanding of academic routes in STEM subjects and knowledge of a range of career pathways.
