To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking an experienced Management Accountant who will partner with management across the Golden Plains Shire Council to deliver expert advice, support and services to ensure the integrity of the general ledger and subsidiary system.
They will also prepare timely and accurate financial reports and analysis, returns and acquittals ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting standards, relevant legislation and guidelines.
This role will provide you the opportunity to:
Partner with managers to provide financial analysis and ensure their understanding of the financial impact of activities as well as providing accurate, timely and insightful financial information and advice.
Provide financial support to business unit managers during budgeting, forecasting and other activities being the key conduit to the Finance Department.
Improving financial performance of the organisation through proactive analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances and trends.
Assist Coordinator Finance and Manager Finance with budget review processing.
Develop and maintain budget and financial reporting systems to meet the information requirements of business units and management.
Provide training on a regular basis to business unit managers and other staff responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial literacy as required.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Strong financial background and proven experience in management accounting functions.
Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining business partnerships providing financial support, analysis and advice.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve to analyse information, recommend, and implement solutions to management accounting issues.
Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a small to medium organisation. In particular general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.
Proficiency in the application of Australian Accounting Standards, techniques, concepts
Attention to detail to ensure accurate data is maintained in Council’s financial and accounting systems.
CPA/CA status is essential.
