Why This Role is Important:
We are looking for a Manager, External Financial Reporting to join the team. The Manager is responsible for all external financial reporting including segment reporting to the Bank’s parent company, the consolidated financial statements for the Bank’s Board of Directors and regulatory reporting including, but not limited to, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). The Manager is responsible for the assessment and implementation of all new accounting pronouncements for the Bank and is responsible for monitoring the regulatory reporting environment including, but not limited to, climate related disclosures and providing updates to the senior management team. The Manager supervises and mentors CPA and co-op students.
What You’ll Do:
Prepare and provide the reporting and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial results for the senior management team, the Bank’s Board of Directors, and the parent company
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annually regulatory reports to OSFI and other regulators
Review regulatory updates from various regulators including OFSI and communicate updates to the senior management team
Responsible for the assessment and implementation of new accounting pronouncements including drafting accounting policy memos and collaborating with the parent company to ensure consistency of the accounting treatment
Support the business in providing accounting treatment guidance on new business and unusual transactions
Assist in the interim and annual internal/external audit process
Prepare legal entity financial statements for the PC Financial group of companies
Supervise and mentor CPA and co-op students
Ad-hoc requests, reports & analysis as requested
What You bring:
A CPA designation
5+ years’ experience in an external reporting and/or in an accounting environment
Experience in assessing and drafting accounting standard policies including implementation of the policy
Experience in mentoring and managing a team of directs is an asset
A proven track record in working collaboratively as a member of a team as well as the ability to work independently when required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must possess strong analytical skills with attention to detail
Results oriented, ability to prioritize and consistently deliver on time with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Experience in financial services is an asset
Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
