Gates Corporation is an industry leading manufacturer of application-specific fluid power and power transmission solutions. The company has facilities around the world serving the automotive, industrial and Oil & Gas sectors. This position is part of the Finance team, based in Cramlington hose Manufacturing facility.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individual to join our European team. Working full-time from our Dumfries facility, The Cost Accountant will primarily report to the UK Financial Controller. A key member of the Finance team responsible for preparing, developing and applying findings for financial analysis to support decision making across the business.

Key responsibilities:
• Lead monthly management accounts submission to Europe/Gates Corporate within strict deadlines.
• Supports Senior Finance Business Partner with forecast/budget process.
• Provide finance business partnering to functional areas and management team, offering proactive information and insight for better decision-making.
• Deputising for the Senior Finance Business Partner when they are unavailable
• Produce weekly/monthly operational performance reports, conducting variance analysis and providing commentaries.
• Stock reporting, reconciliation and control including obsolescence/excess stock provision calculations
• Supporting the business teams with preparation of CAPEX proposals (IPPs)
• Complete Balance Sheet Reconciliations, address reconciling items, and identify risks/opportunities with sufficient evidence for audit purposes.
• Maintain, review, and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley risk control matrices

ABOUT YOU

Required Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Statistics Big 4 Audit, or similar with 5-7 years experience within a manufacturing/production environment.
• Fully qualified CIMA/ACCA
• Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting.
• Experience with SOX 404 compliance.

Required Skills:
• Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills, with a full understanding of both company policies on internal control and statutory legislation.
• Strong working knowledge of ERP/Manufacturing systems.
• Self-motivation and drive to make continuous improvement in the role.
• Experience of HFM & SAP preferable.
