Our Operations

Prominent Hill produces one of the highest grades of copper concentrate in the world. Located 650 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Prominent Hill is part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations, and is located on the traditional lands of the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara people. Please note this position is based at Prominent Hill on a FIFO from Adelaide basis, operating initially on an 8/6 roster arrangement.

About the role

We currently have a role available for a Mechanical Technician within the Prominent Hill Maintenance and Engineering team. In this role you will be responsible for executing planned and unplanned maintenance activities within an operational mining and processing environment. Your work will contribute to optimal production, equipment performance and availability, as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within the mine.

In this role you will:

Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
Carry out unplanned and planned routine maintenance, inspections, and checks to Ore Handling, Hoisting and Processing systems and supporting infrastructure
Assist in resolution of mechanical issues affecting equipment performance and availability
Review and update maintenance schedule plans and equipment history
Provide mechanical trade skills to perform care maintenance tasks within the mine area, to ensure overall reliability and stability
Develop and revise operating and maintenance procedures
Communicate plant status to appropriate departments
Maintain a high level of housekeeping in all work areas

About you

Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
Australian recognised Mechanical Trade qualifications (essential)
Experience working in a similar role with exposure to Ore Handling, Hoisting, Process plant maintenance
Hydraulics experience (advantageous but not essential)
Working at Heights, Integrated Tool-carrier (IT) Ticket advantageous
Experience with underground mining environments (preferred)
Ability to work autonomously, or as part of a team
Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed
Adaptable and responsive to change, as well as learning new information
