Develop management reports to track department activities; manage resources and projects with other areas of the bank (operations/ IT) and oversee credit granting activities
Review credit decisions in accordance with bank guidelines
Track and report credit trends and performance
Pursue and implement strategy enhancements
A hybrid working situation
Effectively manage a team of underwriters in daily credit decisioning on loan applications
Direct and supervise the underwriting support activities, lead, and mortgage system upgrades and regular administration
Maintain policy documents, review, and update policies
Work with senior management to establish department objectives
Develop system for keeping track of underwriting and exception activities; coordinating them with other areas of the bank and oversee work for which subordinates are responsible
Communicate with staff, the standards, and expectations for performance
Monitor performance of department against plans and budget; work with supervisor to achieve plan and budget
Adhere to service delivery agreements (SLAs) and quality service performance; assist in the optimization of the loan origination system (LOS), and its ongoing maintenance and use, to enhance mortgage underwriting
Develop and carry out approaches to clients and prospects to promote the bank and its products and services
Work with Mortgage Operations/Sales teams to strengthen a mortgage team committed to quality, efficiency, and customer experience
Maintain credit quality in accordance with Bank guidelines

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manage the mortgage underwriting department, bank risk and exposure as it relates to mortgage underwriting activities. Develop management reports to track department activities; manage resources and projects with other areas of the bank (operations/ IT) and oversee credit granting activities. Review credit decisions in accordance with bank guidelines. Track and report credit trends and performance. Pursue and implement strategy enhancements. A hybrid working situation.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor's degree preferred or comparable experience
• Credit underwriting background with mortgage loans required. Small business underwriting preferred
• 4 years minimum of management experience absolutely required.
• Working knowledge of mortgage related regulations and compliance, as well as agency guidelines.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and people leadership skills
• Strong written documentation skills
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to details
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Position may require the need to travel to branches or meeting locations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
