The Post

We are looking to expand the Hairdressing curriculum teaching team at our newly opened Brent Hairdressing Academy located in the heart of Harlesden. You’ll be hardworking and flexible, have high personal standards and expectations with good planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills and good attention to detail. Able to work well under pressure to agreed deadlines, you’ll work effectively as an individual and as a team member to achieve targets and be able to use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
The Person
You’ll be teaching courses across a range of levels and be a personal tutor on the courses in this curriculum area. You must have experience of teaching Hairdressing and Barbering skills and / or coiled and curly hair specialism like hair extension (braiding), wig making, perming/ relaxing techniques and so on. You are expected to work at flexible hours, including evenings and / or weekends. The courses are predominantly coursework based and therefore we seek innovative practitioners to design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. Following our agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules and student monitoring procedures are an essential component of this work and you’ll also be involved in internal verification activities and organise and take part in external verification. In addition, you will have knowledge and experience of RaRPA and using accreditation with external examination boards.
Ideally, you hold a Level 5 qualification or an equivalent advanced professional qualification in the hairdressing and/or barbering specialism and a teaching qualification. You will have excellent teaching, demonstration and assessment skills in hairdressing and/or barbering and have recent demonstrable experience in hairdressing/barbering education and industry experience. A current DBS would be welcome.
Various courses will run Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays (from 3 to 6 hours of teaching per day) -starting September 2025
A temporary cover for one term on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (3-4 hours of teaching per day) - starting from September 2025
