At Smith-Root, Inc., we are dedicated to delivering high-quality products to the fisheries community for over 60 years. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Production Manager to join our team and oversee our manufacturing operations. Must be able to adapt to the current environment without introducing a lot of change at the start, to give you the understanding how processes are implemented, to get familiar with company culture and garner the trust and respect of personnel, with some having long tenure who are set in there ways but can be won over with the right person. This is a full-time, 4 days (Monday-Thursday), 10 hours a day shift position.
Job Description: The Production Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the manufacturing processes. This role ensures that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets the quality standards of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands.
• Manage and optimize human, material, and capital resources.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
• Lead and mentor production staff, fostering a positive work environment.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
• Identify and correct production issues as they occur.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role.
• Strong knowledge of production management principles and practices.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office tools
• Demonstrated success in planning and scheduling with an ERP system.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of employees.
• Sense of urgency, deadlines, and results driven.

- Collaborate with supply chain management to maintain inventory levels for uninterrupted production.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure proper functioning.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track production performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Lead efforts in fabricating products efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

- Proven experience in operations management and production management.

- Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP software for inventory control.
