The Opportunity

It is a very exciting time at The Kids Research Institute Australia as we continue to evolve from what began in the 1980’s as a vision to create a world-class child health research hub. We have recently changed our name from the Telethon Kids Institute, but we continue to achieve our vision of happy, healthy kids!

Our values, Collaboration, Courage, Evidence and Respect, are at the heart of our organisation and help to shape our positive, unique, and inclusive culture and achieve excellence in everything we do.

We are currently looking for a Project Accountant to join our passionate and customer focussed research finance team, and partner with our researchers to meet all their financial needs. If you share our values and want to kick-start your career with an organisation that makes a difference, read on!

In this role your time will be spent on the financial management of various projects within a wide range of research areas. Working with a team of dedicated professionals, you will be mentored to develop skills in building & managing key relationships, best practice financial processes, and the provision of financial advice in a research environment.

No two days will be the same in this varied role but typically your day-to-day tasks will include:

Ensure new projects are set up, and completed projects are closed off in a timely manner and that appropriate supporting documentation is on file.
Regularly meeting with researchers to review projects and ensure they are tracking correctly against budget, and that system data accurately reflects progress to date.
Preparing journals for internal transfers of expenditure and service charges between projects, to ensure financial data is kept up to date.
Preparation of financial acquittals, and other financial reports for all research grants within the portfolio.
Upskilling and educating researchers in best practice financial management.
Based at Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, this role will be permanent and offered on a full-time, basis.
