Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Act as the primary contact for project managers to set up new projects, entering budgets, change orders and validating the accuracy of project information
Review construction contracts to identify risk and ensure compliance
Request Certificates of Insurance, bid bonds or performance bonds as needed
File all required preliminary lien paperwork and execute all releases
Prepare monthly billings in accordance with contract requirements
Collections
Support month-end and year-end close activities including the preparation of supporting schedules and workpapers
General Ledger entries
Special projects as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field or minimum 5 years in construction accounting.
Strong understanding of project accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Basic Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, vlookups, macros).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Customer service focused mindset
Ability to travel to branch locations
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction, engineering, or related industry. Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting is a plus.
ERP software experience (Quickbooks, SAP, etc.)
Construction office experience with waivers and billing
Lien experience, can be commercial or residential
Strong understanding of Microsoft Outlook and Excel
