Job Title: Property Accountant
Location: Chicago, IL
Our Client, a family-owned commercial real estate firm with a portfolio of retail, office, and restaurant properties in the greater Chicago area. They pride ourselves on our commitment to providing high-quality service to our tenants, and we are looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our team.
Job Description: As our Property Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for our portfolio of properties. You will work closely with our Property Managers to ensure that rent and other charges are billed and collected in a timely manner, and that expenses are tracked and reported accurately. You will also be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, assisting with budget preparation, and providing analysis and reporting as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure timely and accurate billing and collection of rent and other charges
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on delinquent accounts
• Prepare and post journal entries to accurately record all financial transactions
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
• Review and code invoices for payment and maintain accurate records of expenses
• Prepare monthly financial statements and assist with budget preparation
• Provide analysis and reporting as needed
• Maintain accurate and complete financial records for all properties
• Communicate effectively with Property Managers and other team members to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• 2+ years of experience in property accounting
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Experience with property management software (Yardi preferred)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
