At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, you'll join multidisciplinary cancer care teams working to provide equitable, person-centred care across the motu (country). We're welcoming Radiation Oncologists who want to make a difference in modern, supportive and innovative cancer services.

Opportunities across Health New Zealand

Radiation Oncologists work in regional cancer centres throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand), each equipped with modern facilities and digital planning systems. Your work may include:

Consultation, staging and treatment planning
Radiotherapy for curative and palliative indications
Supervision of registrars and junior doctors
Collaboration with medical physicists, radiation therapists and oncology nurses
Participation in MDTs, tumour streams and research initiatives
Commonly used technologies and modalities include:

3D conformal and IMRT/VMAT planning and delivery
Image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT)
Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)
Brachytherapy (in some centres)
Patient education and survivorship care

Salary & benefits

Base salary: NZD $170,000 – $250,000+ (based on the ASMS MECA)

Additional compensation: Penal rates, on-call and availability allowances where applicable

You'll also receive:

Annual CME allowance (up to NZD $16,000)
CME leave (up to 10 days per year)
Six weeks of annual leave per year
Twelve public holidays (plus time in lieu if rostered on)
Paid parental leave and long service entitlements
Reimbursement of MCNZ registration and APC
Professional indemnity cover paid by your employer
What you need to work here

To practise as a Radiation Oncologist in New Zealand, you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

Most international applicants need a postgraduate qualification comparable to Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) or another recognised radiation oncology qualification.
