Reports To: Rooms Operations Manager (Front Office)
Position Summary:
• The Rooms Controller is responsible for delivering a positive overall experience for our guests by assisting with directing, guiding, and organizing the Front Office team. The Rooms Controller is also in charge of balancing the Hotel inventory with a goal of maximizing revenue for the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
To ensure the Hotel inventory is balanced and all guest rooms are blocked strategically by taking care of guest preferences.
To ensure guest satisfaction is exceptional by making sure that pre planning for groups, Marriott Bonvoy Elite guests and transient guests are done exceptionally well.
Evaluate and monitor the hotel’s competitive room and occupancy rates and special packages.
Ensures the inventory between Marsha & Opera is balanced seven days out.
Ensures that blocks in Marsha are released promptly after cutoff.
Fully understands and applies the tenets of revenue management daily.
Checks for Out of Order rooms to ensure that we always maximize our ability to sell all rooms.
Anticipate sold-out situations and obtain satisfactory alternative accommodations when the property cannot accommodate guests with reservations.
Ensures that efforts are made to attain the best average room rate and occupancy.
Making room reservations.
Support administrative functions for sales & front office.
Knowledge and Skills Required
University Degree at undergraduate level in an appropriate field, or hotel specific college diploma.
Hospitality Program graduate preferred.
Minimum of 1 year current Hotel and Revenue/Reservations experience
Sound knowledge of hotel services & facilities, specifically Front Office operations, policies, and procedures.
Computer literacy with MS Office
Knowledge of Opera an asset
