The Sales Tax Analyst role is located at the Associated Packaging, Inc. headquarters in Gallatin, TN. The primary function of the Sales Tax Analyst is to assimilate, validate, and compile data to file multi-state sales tax returns for US and Canada.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule after an initial training period.
Responsibilities
Compile and analyze data to complete and file state, city, local jurisdiction sales tax returns.
Perform monthly reconciliations between Avalara (SaaS cloud application) tax data and ERP Transaction data, resolving reconciling items.
Perform monthly reconciliations between Avalara tax data, ERP Transaction data and eCommerce platform, resolving reconciling items.
Review, validate and process customer exempt certificates
Analyze tax assessment notices and respond verbally and/or in writing.
Assist with year-end accrual preparation and review as it relates to taxes.
Keep abreast of current developments in sales tax compliance.
Other sales tax and financial projects as they arise.
Qualifications & Required Competencies
2-4 years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors Degree Preferred
Strong emphasis on data analysis and heavy excel use.
Strong emphasis on multi-state tax laws.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
Ability to organize workload, adapt quickly to change, and deliver under the pressure of deadlines.
Ability to perform both standard and intermediate spreadsheet functions using Microsoft Excel, knowledge of macros is a plus. All candidates will undergo proficiency test.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams.
Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software applications.
General knowledge of mathematics and accounting principles.
