About Us
Weâre a fast-moving space startup building next-generation satellite communications constellations. Backed by strong university and industry partnerships, weâre developing world-leading capabilities in Defence SATCOM, direct-to-cell 5G services, and optical space communications.
The Role
Weâre looking for a Flight Software Engineer who can take the lead on embedded software development for an in-orbit payload, integrating COTS satellite components such as RF transceivers with our onboard payload computer. The payload will be delivered for satellite bus integration and launched within the next 24 months.
Beyond this mission-critical project, you'll also contribute to other embedded and telecommunications R&D projects across the company. This is a 3-year fixed-term, full-time role with a pathway to ongoing employment beyond the initial project.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for satellite subsystems.
Write and maintain documentation, including ICDs, test procedures, and design documents.
Liaise with external stakeholders on design reviews, payload integration, and progress updates.
Support ground test campaigns, including over-the-air RF verification.
Contribute to internal tools and frameworks for ground and flight software.
Conduct on-orbit flight operations to execute test plans, acquire payload data, and push software updates.
Must-Have:
Bachelor's degree in EE, Aerospace, CS, or similar.
3+ years of experience developing embedded software.
Strong experience with Linux environments.
Experience working with SPI, IÂČC, UART, and Ethernet interfaces.
Understanding of RF systems (e.g. modulation, link budgets, etc.).
Experience with version control and CI/CD for embedded systems.
Australian working rights.
Eligible for an Australian Government security clearance.
Nice to Have:
Previous satellite mission experience (CubeSats, LEO payloads, etc.).
Experience writing space-qualified software.
Understanding of CCSDS or similar telemetry/command stacks.
Familiarity with SDRs and RFSoC-based systems.
Experience designing and debugging PCBs for embedded or RF systems.
Experience working on FPGA development for signal processing or high-speed I/O.
Why Join Us?
Work on a real in-orbit mission with direct responsibility for critical flight software.
Shape a core part of our startupâs technology roadmap.
Access to lab facilities and rapid prototyping tools.
Collaborate with a passionate, multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers.
Competitive salary with future equity opportunities as we grow, plus 17% superannuation
