Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: North Houston, TX
Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 (DOE)
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in the North Houston area. This role is ideal for a professional with strong construction industry experience who can oversee daily accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and contribute to efficient month-end and year-end closings.
You will manage Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll, journal entries, and financial reconciliations, with a focus on compliance and cost accuracy. Experience with construction contract documents, cost coding, and AIA documentation is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day AP and AR functions including invoicing, vendor management, and collections.
Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Ensure proper cost coding and financial tracking of construction projects.
Review and manage construction contract documents (including AIA billing and related compliance).
Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for management review.
Collaborate with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate financial performance tracking.
Support audits and provide required documentation to external auditors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, AIA documents, and cost coding.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks, Viewpoint) and Microsoft Excel.
Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors.
