About the Position
We’re seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant / Associate Controller to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape the foundation of our Finance function — building scalable accounting processes, managing day-to-day financial operations, and delivering accurate, timely, and actionable reporting as we grow.
This is a high-impact opportunity with clear potential to evolve into a Controller-level role as CentML continues to scale.
This hybrid opportunity is based in CentML’s Downtown Toronto office, with a minimum of 3 days in the office. Business requirements may require office attendance for 5 days/week in the office for extended periods.
What you’ll do
Own month-end close processes including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and expense reimbursements
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and support the implementation of new accounting policies
Collaborate with external tax advisors, auditors, and bookkeepers as needed
Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and regulatory audits & filings (e.g., Soc II, GDPR)
Implement and improve corporate internal controls, accounting systems, and financial workflows
Assist with budgeting and forecasting, working closely with FP&A
Support equity accounting, revenue recognition, and other technical areas as needed
Help scale the finance function — from tools to processes to people
What you’ll need to be successful
CPA designation (or successful completion of the Common Final Examination) strongly preferred
4–7 years of experience in accounting or financial operations, ideally including a mix of public accounting and in-house roles at startups or high-growth companies
Experience reporting under US GAAP
Solid understanding of GAAP and experience with financial reporting
Familiarity with SaaS business models and accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks)
Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills; experience with financial modeling a plus
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment and excited to build from 0 to 1
