JOB DESCRIPTION
HealthPartners is hiring a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting. They are responsible for the preparation and analysis of HealthPartners consolidating financial statements, segment reporting, claims liability reporting, Medicare cost report, Federal Employees Health Benefit Plan (FEHBP) financial statements, Minnesota Department of Health Plan Financial and Statistical Report, Product Profitability Reporting and other external financial reporting. They prepare and assist with various financial audits and the associated reporting. They assist with other financial related projects directed by the Finance Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in accounting or finance.
Minimum of 5-6 years’ experience in finance and/or accounting.
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in financial reporting
Builds effective working relationships with all levels and across all departments in the organization.
Possesses strong consultative, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Skilled at listening to customers, interpreting their needs, and responding to their requests in a timely manner.
Experience in the application of both general accepted accounting principles and statutory accounting principles.
Excellent analytical skills.
Ability to stay organized and proactive in meeting deadlines.
Must be able to work independently and effectively under tight deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
Experience with NAIC requirements
Experience with statutory reporting for insurance
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
CPA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the insurance industry.
Experience in HealthPlan Insurance and Statutory Reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Preparation and Analysis of Financial Statements (40%)
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external reporting purposes.
Assists in the preparation of internal and external financial statements for the consolidated financial results of HealthPartners.
Regulatory Reporting and Audits (50%)
Preparation of external audit reports (GAAP, STAT, FEHBP, and Medicare Cost Plan Reports).
Assists in the timely and accurate reporting to all governmental agencies (i.e., State HMO reports, NAIC reports, and other data requests).
Preparation of health plan-related reporting of medical loss ratios, Risk-Based Capital, Medicare cost reports and Minnesota Department of Health Financial and Statistical Report.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures, including the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control environment.
Other Financial Analysis and Projects (10%)
Provides other financial analysis and projects as requested by senior management.
