Description:
Senior Commercial and Property Accountant
This individual will be responsible for all accounting and reporting for commercial tenants and residential properties, which includes reconciliation and billing of tenant recoveries. This role will also assist with financial planning and analysis including budgets and forecasts. This individual needs to be able to effectively work in a fast paced / high volume transaction environment; this requires strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize deadlines. We are looking for a hands-on, detailed oriented individual who wants to be part of a growing team.
Job Duties:
Responsible for all accounting and reporting for commercial tenants
Responsible for accounting and reporting for residential properties
Review leases and determine appropriate accounting for all tenant obligations
Responsible for the reconciliation and billing of all tenant recoveries, including CAM, taxes and insurance
Verify the accuracy of the general ledger
Responsible for month-end close accounting and review
Responsible for monthly financial statement package preparation
Ensure the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies
Assist with financial planning and analysis including budgets and forecasts
Requirements:
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (CPA certification or eligibility a plus)
3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting processes and software (Realpage, Yardi, MRI, etc.)
Specialized knowledge of real estate accounting/finance principles
Ability to perform advanced-level accounting and financial analyses with limited supervision
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) required
Ability to abstract leases for proper tenant accounting of rents, operating expense billbacks and recoveries and tenant obligations
Highly organized and strong ability to multi-task
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Ability to follow through on tasks until completed
Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office or similar software applications
Must be self-motivated, punctual, and efficient in handling work assignments
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and workload
