This role's scope will span across their shipping, crude, products, LPG, biofuels, and petrochemical trading activities
Conduct financial analysis of general and administrative costs and variances for multiple entities
Record necessary accounting entries, including accruals and post-close gross margin adjustments
Manage the daily and monthly reconciliation of bank statements
Review and approve general & administrative invoices + expense reports submitted by accounting staff
Reconcile inter-company balances on a quarterly basis, to ensure compliance with reporting standards
Perform regular reconciliations of monthly balance sheet accounts
Develop the annual budget and forecast & present it to leadership for approval, document key assumptions, and prepare actual vs
Oversee the analysis of lease contracts and assess their impact on financial records
Collaborate with the Tax Department and external consultants to analyze transfer pricing issues and ensure compliance with tax regulations across different countries
Partner with the Tax Department to analyze and reconcile the tax treatment of commercial activities
Prepare and submit accurate tax returns, handle disputes and amendments, and stay updated on relevant tax legislation
Enter financial data into consolidation tools for group reporting, and assist in preparing the annual tax and financial reporting package
Serve as a mentor to junior team members, lead projects, and review accounting entries for less experienced staff
Job description
Selby Jennings is currently partnered with one of the global supermajors that is looking to bring on a senior accountant who will play a critical role in maintaining the general ledger, balance sheet, and PnL for 3 of their trading entities. This role's scope will span across their shipping, crude, products, LPG, biofuels, and petrochemical trading activities.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct financial analysis of general and administrative costs and variances for multiple entities.
• Record necessary accounting entries, including accruals and post-close gross margin adjustments.

Qualifications:
• 6+ years of corporate accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Relevant experience within the oil & gas industry.
• Demonstrated technical accounting experience (e.g. financial reporting, revenue recognition, variance analysis, etc.)
• Knowledge in sales, use, and/or excise tax compliance.
