As our Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with accounting and finance activities for the division. The successful candidate will be a driven individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta
The Team:
The Senior Financial Accountant will join a collaborative and supportive team that values effective communication and knowledge-sharing. A Day in The Life:
Oversee/assist in the daily accounting and finance activities for the division
Assist in the month-end close activities
Assist in the interim and year-end audit – preparing audit schedules, providing information at auditor’s request, providing explanation in variances, etc.
Initiating and implementing process improvements
Assist in the monthly reporting and analysis of financial results including detailed variance review of the month’s operational results, and review/preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations
Provide support and financial assistance in an efficient and timely manner to various stakeholders
Lead and/or support special projects such as IFRS standards implementation, complex accounting issues analysis and internal control process updates
Preparation of ad-hoc financial information
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience
A CPA designation is required
Experience in a public accounting firm is preferred
Strong knowledge of IFRS is required
Strong knowledge of internal controls framework and testing processes
Excellent oral and written communication skills with highly developed interpersonal skills
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Advanced Excel skills
The following are considered assets in this role:
Experience in oil and gas industry is an asset but not required
Knowledge in the use of D365 and related reporting tools (Solver, PowerBI)
Adaptable and ability to work in fast paced environment
