The Dunedin City Council (DCC) takes great pride in delivering a broad range of services to the communities of this unique and fascinating city. Our Building Services team provides guidance, approval, inspection and monitoring services for building applications to ensure compliance with the Building Act, regulations, and associated codes, bylaws and other legislation. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Building Services team as a Senior Officer Education and Compliance.
Things you will be doing in this exciting new role includes:
Delivering staff technical training
Undertaking staff technical and competency assessments
Delivering customer education sessions
Supporting compliance activities across the team where workflow demands require it including providing 2IC support to the Team Leader
Provide support to the four semi-autonomous compliance roles within the team including: Building warrant of fitness (BWOF), Earthquake-prone buildings (EPB) Building and Drainage investigations.
What you will bring to the role includes:
A proven track record of building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Experience of undertaking training, presentations and engaging others
Communication skills; ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) complex issues
A minimum of ten years' experience in one or more building industry disciplines.
An appropriate NZQA qualification as per regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006.
