A well-established food manufacturing business based in Cumbria are seeking to appoint a Site Accountant at management accountant level to strengthen its finance team and support operational decision-making.
This is a highly visible role within a company that supplies ingredients and products to some of the most recognised food brands in UK supermarkets. The successful candidate will work closely with site operations and the central finance team, providing accurate financial reporting, cost control, and performance insight.
Salary: up to £52,000 + up to 5% discretionary bonus
Reporting to: Operations Finance Manager
Direct reports: 2

The Role
• Lead the month-end process for the site including journal posting, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Produce clear and insightful monthly management accounts with supporting variance analysis and commentary
• Oversee cost control and support purchase order and invoice-matching processes, working closely with the accounts payable team and site management
• Work with department managers to understand performance drivers and provide actionable financial insight
• Ensure inventory, yield, and stock data is accurate and reconciled to operational systems
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and the annual standard costing process
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, capex tracking, and audit requirements
• Support and develop site-based finance staff while fostering a positive and continuous improvement culture
Candidate Profile
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA), Qualified by experience accountants with like for like manufacturing experience are highly desirable
• At least three years of experience in a management accounting role, ideally within FMCG, manufacturing, or supply chain
• Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
• Comfortable using financial systems and Excel to manage and interpret data
• Commercially aware, proactive, and able to operate independently in a dynamic site-based role
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
