About the role


As the Senior Analyst, Strategic Modelling & Analysis, you will lead the delivery of sophisticated financial modelling, scenario planning and strategic analysis to support executive decision-making and manage budget risk.

You will play a key role in developing evidence-based insights that inform funding strategies, policy development and long-term financial planning. Working in a fast-paced and complex environment, you will partner closely with senior stakeholders to provide clear, actionable advice. In this role, you will lead both proactive and responsive scenario planning, ensuring executive decisions are underpinned by robust, data-driven insights.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
Ability to translate complex data into clear insights
Experience working with senior stakeholders
Proven problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Collaborative approach to working across teams
Understanding of financial risk and planning frameworks

Key knowledge and experience

Substantial experience providing high quality modelling and financial advice and insights to senior stakeholders, including from financial models
Substantial experience working with a wide range of stakeholders to provide financial acumen capability uplift, including proven achievements in improving organisation operational efficiency
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

Degree in accounting or finance discipline or demonstrated relevant and successful workplace experience.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
