Our Brampton location is presently looking for Sr. Financial Accountant
Responsibilities include Financial Planning and Analysis functions, including reporting and analysis. The incumbent will also contribute to the preparation of short-term financial planning, annual budgeting, monthly and quarterly forecasting processes, analysis of actual results and the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports. This position will require working relationships with department personnel at all Taro and Sun Canada locations as well as finance personnel at the parent company overseas. There may also be other analysis to support the management team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Compile/analyze/produce accounting data in a timely and accurate manner
• Define and create sales reporting requirements for internal stakeholders and sales teams. Identify drivers of sales variances and report to Corporate office.
• Create sales presentations for Senior Management using Powerpoint and Excel.
• Prepare monthly sales estimates, MIS reporting package and brand reporting
• Calculate the royalty payments and profit share for 3rd Party supplier agreements
• Calculate broker sales commissions, volume rebates, and transfer price adjustments
• Lead the compilation of the annual budget for Sun Canada
• Prepare quarterly financial estimates (including short term sales, expenses and P&L estimates) and presentations to senior management
• Assist with month end and year end process including audit and preparation of audit schedules
• Work on automating some financial reporting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent business acumen combined with strong technical skills and accounting knowledge.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with diverse teams and individuals.
• Ability to work within a team environment to achieve goals and targets.
• Flexibility in hours required to fulfill demands, particularly during month end and audit periods
• Knowledge of tax provisions, corporate tax returns and SR&ED claims
• Strong computer skills (MS Office including advanced Excel) combined with ERP experience, preferably with SAP.
• Experience with Data Analytics
• Added advantage if the candidate has worked on SQL, macros, power BI and demonstrates automation of reports
Background and Experience
• Minimum University or college degree (preferably in a business or commerce stream)
• Designated accountant (CPA-CGA, CPA-CA, CPA-CMA) or working towards Accounting designation preferred
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; preferably within a generic pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Problem Solving
• Able to identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies in the accounting records.
• Able to propose changes to the existing processes and controls
• Strong analytical and Excel skills are a must
