SWE Homes and its affiliates have been in business for nearly 40 years, consistently profitable regardless of the economic environment. As a vertically integrated real estate company, we specialize in acquiring, renovating, and selling residential and commercial properties. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a preferred background in the real estate industry to join our growing team.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily accounting functions including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis
Support property-level accounting, including cost tracking for renovations and capital improvements
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audit processes
Prepare and file sales tax and other compliance reports as required
Assist in cash flow monitoring and forecasting
Other accounting and finance tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4+ years of accounting experience; experience in the real estate industry strongly preferred
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with property management accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, QuickBooks, etc.)
Familiarity with real estate transactions, property sales, or development accounting
