Job description
A construction company is seeking to hire a Staff Accountant. Looking for someone who can be responsible for AP/AR, bank reconciliations, some billing, cash applications, assisting with month end close, and journal entries. The ideal candidate has similar experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting, is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel spreadsheets, and has knowledge of an accounting information system (Sage 100 is a plus, but not required).

Qualfications:
• Continuously identify and lead opportunities which develop and improve processes which strengthen Accounting Operation's capabilities.
• Participate in month-end close procedures, including the preparation of reconciliations and schedules required to support the internal and external reporting process, as well as external auditors.
• Prepare and record monthly transactions to support the G/L close.
• Prepare account analysis, identify and explain fluctuations in monthly financial information.
• Perform ad hoc financial analyses for management.
• Engage in cross-training on departmental functions and work flexibly to assist other staff and/or fill in, as needed.

Requirements
• BS/BA Accounting, with 2+ years' experience in an accounting role.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting practices.
• Demonstrated experience as a self-starter, with a record of effectively taking initiative.
• Dynamic, fast learner who is highly organized, analytical and a creative problem solver.
• A team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust internally and externally.
• Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and collaborate with outside functions.
