Full job description
· To work closely with families on a daily basis, observing and recording the parents’ abilities to
meet the immediate safety and care needs of their children through observations.
· To work as part of a team to provide a culturally sensitive service for children and their families.
· To create a supportive learning/re-learning environment for parents and children which will be a key purpose of the role.
· To take an active part in the assessment process regarding children and families in order to observe, supervise, record and assess family interaction, child behaviour, parental motivation and parental ability to meet the needs of the child(ren).
· To provide childcare for children whilst their parents/carers attend groups and individual sessions, and you will observe/implement child protection procedures and the home’s policies and procedures.
· To work as a member of the team in meeting the care and support needs of our clients in a way that respects the dignity, privacy, and rights of everyone.
· To practice in the principles of compassion, tenacity and systemic thinking, utilising goal-based planning to facilitate and support a positive experience for children and parents.
· To promote independence, choice and life fulfilment for children and parents.
· To advise senior social workers/ registered manager of any concerns, e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings.
· To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
· To work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy is fulfilled.
· To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
· To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
· To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.
To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
*Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People Workforce
*Evidence of on-going personal development training
*Demonstration of commitment in continuing with personal development
*Experience in working with children, young people and adults
*Experience of working in Partnership with parents, multi-agencies and relevant professionals.
*Knowledge of legislation, regulations and guidance relevant to working with vulnerable adults and children.
*Knowledge of Child Development and Children's needs.
Pay: From £23,809.50 per year
