Job Title: Technical Accounting Manager / Full-Time, Salaried
Position Will Report To: Assistant Vice President, Accounting Policy at the League City, Texas office
Onsite Placement: League City, Texas or Des Moines, Iowa (Monday-Friday / 8:00 am-4:30 pm) Individual selected must have availability outside of core business hours, as necessary.

The Technical Accounting Manager will provide guidance on a variety of accounting topics and prepare documentation to support accounting conclusions. This role involves collaboration with various departments and requires a strong understanding of technical accounting matters.
What You'll Do:
• Provide technical accounting guidance under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Statutory Accounting Principles on a variety of accounting topics for various stakeholders across the company
• Lead or participate in special accounting projects
• Work with operations personnel to implement new accounting standards and proper accounting for new business transactions
• Monitor authoritative standard setting bodies and participate in accounting industry groups
• Prepare and support operations in accounting disclosures
• Identify and implement process improvements to ensure compliance with authoritative accounting guidance
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Serve as a subject matter expert during audits
• Perform other related work as assigned which may include assignments in accounting operations
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Relevant industry work experience/certifications will be considered in lieu of degree
• At least five years of progressively responsible related experience
• Insurance industry experience and/or Big-4 background, strongly preferred
• Experience drafting technical accounting memorandums
• CPA preferred
• Knowledge of the life and annuity insurance industry, beneficial
• Excellent communication skills
