Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) is South Australia’s leading provider of venue management services. It is responsible for operating three of Adelaide’s most iconic venues: Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Coopers Stadium, in addition to functions and events at The Drive.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Event Manager to coordinate the successful delivery of events at one of Adelaide’s premier event venues. Reporting to the Manager, Event Floor Services, you will oversee floor operations, staff performance, event set-up, and venue presentation to meet client expectations, budget guidelines, and AVM service standards. This full time role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and has a passion for delivering exceptional events.

Key Responsibilities:
• Event Coordination: Oversee and supervise all allocated events, ensuring venue presentation and set-up are impeccable and in line with client specifications.
• Client Liaison: Coordinate and liaise with clients to ensure all event requirements are met, and ensure Event Guarantees are completed and signed.
• Staff Supervision: Lead and mentor event floor staff, ensuring they are well-trained, adhere to safety protocols, and are motivated to provide excellent service.
• Quality Control: Conduct spot-checks to maintain venue presentation, quality of service, and compliance with SA Liquor Licensing Laws.
• Financial Management: Ensure accurate event documentation, staff time sheets, and proper inventory control.
• Team Development: Promote a positive work environment, assist with the development of team members, and ensure all staff undergo training and development.
• Efficiency & Planning: Participate in event planning and provide feedback to improve processes, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance event operations.
• WHS & Environmental Management: Ensure compliance with WHS policies, manage safety during events, and support AVM’s environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Skills you will bring to the role:
• Proven experience in supervising front-of-house operations for events, conferences, and banquets, with a strong understanding of food and beverage service in both indoor and outdoor settings.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team to meet performance targets and maintain a high standard of service.
• Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and suppliers to deliver successful events.
• In-depth understanding of the events industry, including local, national, and international conference and banqueting trends.
• Sound knowledge of liquor licensing, special dietary requirements, and WHS laws and standards.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and handle challenging situations.
• Physically fit to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, with the ability to be on your feet for long periods.
