Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled CAD Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for testing the software that creates precise and accurate drawings and schematics that support our engineering and design projects. This role requires proficiency in various drafting software and a strong understanding of design principles. The Drafting Technician will collaborate closely with engineers and architects to ensure that all designs meet project specifications and standards.
Responsibilities
Develop and prepare accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings and digital models for engineering and architectural projects, based on client specifications and internal design standards
Assist in the creation and maintenance of Building Information Models (BIM) and other intelligent CAD models for use in design coordination, simulation, and digital twin initiatives
Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and project managers to understand project objectives, design constraints, and delivery timelines across multiple client portfolios.
Interpret design concepts, technical sketches, and engineering inputs to convert them into production-ready CAD files using AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or other drafting tools
Participate in project planning and kickoff meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify drafting scope, standards, and deliverables.
Work closely with software development or IT support teams when custom CAD tools, automation scripts, or data migration between platforms is required
Perform precise measurements and calculations to ensure drawings are technically accurate.
Use survey data, manuals, and codes to support accuracy in design work.
Conduct quality control checks on incoming or outgoing CAD files to ensure proper formatting, layer management, annotation, and presentation.
Work closely with hardware, embedded systems, and mechanical engineers to meet form-factor and design requirements.
Review and verify drawing outputs for consistency, accuracy, and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client-specific CAD protocols.
Support the integration of CAD data with project management, GIS, and document control platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and collaboration between departments.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree or Equivalent education in CAD
Proficient in industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD (2D/3D drafting) & SolidWorks (mechanical modeling) & Revit
Understanding of simulation integration, CAM tools, or rendering engines (e.g., KeyShot, Blender)
Ability to work with scripting or automation tools within CAD platforms (e.g., macros, VBA, or Python scripting in Fusion 360)

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
