About your new role
The Contractor Safety Management Lead is a strategic role within the City’s Work Health and Safety Branch, focused on developing and implementing a contemporary approach to WHS contractor management. This approach will focus on contractor competency, agreed systems of work, supervision levels, and assurance.
Responsibilities include:
Develop, implement, and oversee a structured WHS Contractor Management Framework, ensuring a consistent approach to contractor safety.
Establish clear processes for assessing contractor competency, agreed systems of work, supervision levels, and assurance.
Develop a formal sign-off process to confirm safety management measures are in place before work commences.
Provide expert advice on WHS contractor management, addressing common risks and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
Design and deliver training and support resources to enhance contractor safety capability across the business.
Monitor and evaluate contractor management practices, providing insights and recommendations to improve safety performance and governance.
Align WHS contractor management practices with broader WHS assurance and due diligence requirements, ensuring effective risk oversight.
Engage with internal stakeholders and contractors to drive continuous improvement in contractor safety management and performance.
We're looking for people who have:
A degree or diploma in relevant field
Substantial knowledge and previous experience as a WHS Contractor Management Lead
Thorough technical knowledge of current QLD WHS legislation and its application
Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities
Strong influencing and consulting skills
Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships and engage a range of stakeholders
Current open driver’s licence – class C unrestricted
