Role title: Emergency Department Administration Officer
Role type: Permanent full time
Role grade: Administration officer level 3 Year 1/2

About the role
As an integral member of our Emergency Department (ED) administrative team, you will play a vital role in supporting patients, staff, and the wider health care team. Your key responsibilities will include:
Patient Interviewing & Data Management: Interview patients upon arrival to gather essential demographic and financial information, and ensure all data is accurately recorded both manually and electronically in SVHS CIAPAS and ATS systems.
Movement & Status Tracking: Reconcile and update patient movement throughout the ED and Emergency Medical Unit (EMU), maintaining up-to-date location records to support efficient care delivery.
Exceptional Patient Interaction: Deliver excellent customer service by providing compassionate, clear, and respectful support to all patients, visitors, and callers with the hallmark of St. Vincent’s care.
Financial Documentation & Billing: Confirm patients’ financial election preferences at the bedside, process payments for “ED Only” cases, and ensure accurate compensable status for all ED presentations.
Administration & Operational Support: Maintain accurate patient records, manage the safe and its contents, perform designated “Acute Area Officer” duties, and escalate urgent matters through the appropriate channels as needed.

teamwork & independence: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a busy team and independently manage your responsibilities under pressure.
tech-savvy & organised: High level of computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office, and experience juggling multiple priorities while staying organised and focused.
