About Us
Executive Council provides support to the Premier, Cabinet and Cabinet committees. It develops and advances the government’s plan for Saskatchewan and manages how that is implemented across government. Other functions include: coordinating government business in the Legislative Assembly; maintaining all Cabinet documents, orders-in-council and regulations on behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan; providing strategic direction in communications throughout government; administering policies on communications procurement, visual identity and online development; and the operation of government’s web, mobile and social presence.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Deputy Minister to the Premier, the Communications Services branch within Executive Council has an exciting term opportunity available for a highly skilled and strategic leader for the role of Executive Director. In this role, you will lead a team of communications, procurement and research professionals.
In this senior position within the Executive Council, the Executive Director, Communications Services, will leverage their ability to be a strategic leader and foster client and stakeholder relationships. You will also:
Guide an office with cross-government responsibilities and influence;
Work with stakeholders to find solutions for complex scenarios through thoughtful negotiation;
Be a lead advisor on multiple enterprise files with significant impact;
Play an integral role in the strategic direction, planning and execution of a diverse range of initiatives, including public engagement and communications, procurement and policy across ministries and the Crowns; and
Develop, maintain and monitor the branch’s strategic planning and reporting framework to align the branch with overall government direction.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Knowledge, understanding and application of public procurement policy and public engagement;
Extensive experience in stakeholder relations and change management;
Knowledge of and experience with strategic communications planning and execution; and
Leadership, superior interpersonal skills, issues management and the capacity to excel in high pressure situations are essential.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Communications or a related field of study, supplemented with substantive experience leading multi-faceted teams in a communications, procurement or marketing environment.
The successful candidate will be appointed through Order in Council and be part of the unclassified division of the Public Service.
