Job description, work day and responsibilities

Workers Lifestyle Group is seeking an experienced Group Risk & Compliance Officer to join our Finance team. This is a high-impact role ideal for professionals from the finance sector looking to broaden their remit across compliance, risk management, and ESG governance.

You will play a key role in upholding the integrity, transparency, and long-term sustainability of a legacy organisation, with roots that trace back to a humble tin shed in 1+55. Today, we remain proudly community-driven—delivering hospitality, services, and support to Western Sydney and beyond.

Your Strategic Impact

Reporting directly to the Executive Manager – Finance, you'll provide risk, compliance, and governance oversight across all operational domains. Your work will not only ensure regulatory compliance, but also align with broader ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and sustainability goals.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Risk & Governance

Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk management frameworks.

Maintain the Group Risk Register and support internal assurance programs.

Deliver executive level risk reporting, including ESG-related risks.

Drive policy development and document controls across WHS, Privacy, AML/CTF, and Food Safety.

Serve as the AML/CTF Compliance Officer and manage all AUSTRAC-related obligations.

Transaction Monitoring – Review and analyse transactions to identify potential indicators of money laundering or other illicit activities.

Risk Assessment – Assess the organisation's risk exposure related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF).

Compliance and Reporting – Ensure compliance with applicable AML/CTF regulations and prepare required reports for submission to relevant authorities.

Conduct transaction monitoring, submit Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs), and perform Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).

Monitor PEPs and sanctions lists, and manage escalation protocols.

Liquor & Gaming Compliance

Ensure venue operations meet all regulatory requirements under L&GNSW.

Maintain RSA/RCG registers, incident logs, and compliance reporting.

WHS & Food Safety

Oversee safe work practices in line with SafeWork NSW standards.

Support food safety compliance, inspections, and hygiene protocols.

ESG & Sustainability Reporting

Assist in the development of ESG frameworks, data collection processes, and reporting aligned to industry standards.

Identify governance improvements that align with environmental and social responsibility objectives.

What You’ll Bring

5+ years' experience in compliance, risk, or governance—preferably within the finance or corporate services sector

Strong understanding of AML/CTF legislation and regulatory frameworks

Familiarity with ESG principles and experience supporting or delivering sustainability reporting

Experience working with regulators such as AUSTRAC, L&GNSW, SafeWork NSW, and local councils

Excellent analytical and investigative skills—experience with transaction monitoring tools is advantageous

Proven capability in drafting policies, managing audits, and communicating with senior stakeholders

Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, law, risk, governance, criminology, or a related field

A proactive, systems-minded professional with a passion for compliance, integrity, and continuous improvement

Full legal working rights in Australia
