POSITION SUMMARY:
As a key member of the Group Service team, the Group Service Representative will assist Group Account Executives in the acquisition and retention of a profitable book of business along the promotion of all group product lines. The Group Service Representative will provide service to an assigned book of business on a regular basis by meeting with clients and providing assistance to plan administrators and members in the resolution of issues. Responsibilities will also involve assisting with the preparation of required documentation for new plans or amendments, preparing documentation for and conducting re-openings on assigned groups, and assisting with employee meetings including the preparation of required materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides service to an assigned block of Blue Cross clients on a regular basis.
Deals with specific requests and questions on groups in this block of business.
Meets with Manitoba Blue Cross clients to ensure administration procedures are understood and followed. Reviews the administration procedures with new administrators to familiarize them with Manitoba Blue Cross systems and procedures.
Ensures clients have all of the necessary supplies and materials to ensure the proper operation of their benefit plan.
Performs the primary function of installing new and additional business to Manitoba Blue Cross, which may include but is not limited to:
preparation of new group and group revision documentation;
co-ordination of the production of booklets, contracts and administration materials.
Conducts or assists in employee meetings for both existing and new clients, as required.
Prepares documentation for and conducts re-openings on assigned groups.
Assists the Account Executives with client and advisor correspondence, as required.
Prepares necessary reports for the Manager, Group Sales, to track activity.
Assists the Manager, Group Sales as required.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service; committed to responding to, anticipating and addressing customer needs, for both internal and external customers.
Post-secondary / community college education in Business or an equivalent combination of education and 2 - 5 years’ work experience
3 - 5 years’ related background in the Insurance industry.
Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
Excellent customer service skills. Ability to deal with the public and project a professional business image.
Is action oriented and perseveres; does not give up before finishing, especially in the face of resistance or setbacks.
Excellent organizational skills.
Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.
Knowledge of our group products and systems.
Good computer skills including MS Office and e-mail software.
Availability of an automobile and valid Manitoba Driver’s License (occasional out-of town travel may be required.)
Willingness to work beyond normal hours which may be required from time to time.
Ability and willingness to upgrade knowledge through completion of formal industry or discipline-specific courses of study as a personal investment in life-long learning.
