Job description, work day and responsibilities
Aspora is building a Financial Services platform for immigrants around the world. We are backed by influential venture capitalists like Sequoia Capital, Greylock Partners, Hummingbird Ventures, Y Combinator, & Global Founders Capital, and are on a mission to simplify global banking as easily as booking an Uber.
We're first taking on the Indian diaspora - the largest and wealthiest immigrant population. 18 million Non-Resident Indians hold over $1.5T in wealth of which $500B is back in India. They remit $125B back every year and account for 25% of all real estate purchases in India. Yet, the banking experiences of these NRIs are archaic. We're building a new age platform to service these NRIs with cross border money movement.
About the Role
We're looking for a strategic operator to lead and scale Aspora's banking partnerships in India. As Head of Bank Partnerships, you'll own our relationships with leading banks - and drive implementation of complex, high-stakes integrations. This is a senior, high-impact role for someone who understands how both banks and fintechs operate-and can navigate both worlds with ease.
You'll work closely with cross-functional teams (product, compliance, legal, ops) and be instrumental in bringing new financial products to market, from payment rails to deposits to KYC infrastructure.
This role isn't just about managing partners-it's about owning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Build, manage, and scale relationships with top-tier global and Indian banks (Citi, HSBC, DBS, StanC, etc.)
• Drive end-to-end execution on banking projects-across payments, compliance, onboarding, FX, and more
• Negotiate commercials, compliance requirements, and operational SLAs with banks and financial partners
• Work cross-functionally with legal, compliance, product, and operations teams to get new products live
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new partners to enable new product lines or improve unit economics
• Serve as the face of Aspora to all financial institutions-ensure alignment, trust, and velocity
• Track partner performance, SLAs, and build escalation pathways
• Stay ahead of evolving regulatory and banking norms in multiple geographies
Requirements
• 8-12 years of experience across banks and fintechs-ideally in partnership, corporate banking, or embedded finance roles
• Deep understanding of banking infrastructure, partner onboarding, and API-based integrations
• Proven track record of owning bank relationships, managing negotiations, and driving go-lives
• Excellent cross-functional skills-able to align product, ops, legal, and compliance to a common goal
• Execution-first mindset: ability to push through roadblocks across banks and internal teams
• Strong commercial sense, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
Who You Are
• You've worked in both a bank and a fintech-and understand the strengths and constraints of each
• You're not just a relationship manager-you can get complex, regulated projects off the ground
• You enjoy working across teams, wearing multiple hats, and being the connective tissue across product, ops, and compliance
• You're comfortable driving alignment in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
• You think commercially, act like an owner, and push to ship
Why Join Aspora?
• Work on the most critical layer of our business-our financial infrastructure
• Collaborate directly with the leadership team to define our banking strategy
• Shape how we scale our product into new geographies and categories
• Join a fast-growing Series A startup backed by Sequoia and Y Combinator
• Build fintech for the diaspora-starting with the $125B+ NRI remittance market
Interview Process
• Expect a fast and efficient process with actionable feedback at every stage.
• Exploratory Call (15 mins) - Discussion with the talent team about your interest & intent, motivations and alignment with Aspora.
• Profile Deep Dive to align experience & skills with the role (60 mins) - In-depth discussion with a team member on your experience & expertise to align the same with the role and responsibilities.

• Part 2 - Problem Solving (30 mins) : hypothetical case discussion.
