Job description, work day and responsibilities
Mō te tūranga | About the role
Partner with an area of the organisation, supporting them with their key finance deliverables and providing financial advice.
Develop business unit annual and long-term plans as well as regular financial forecasts.
Undertake monthly performance analysis, including understanding and explaining key variances between actuals and budget / forecast.
Prepare monthly financial performance reports to enable decision making at a management level.
Adhere to internal control processes.
Design, develop and maintain financial reporting outputs.

Proactive approach to problem solving.
Ability to manage multiple deliverables in parallel, demonstrating organisation and prioritisation.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience
Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance or equivalent of accounting knowledge.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance CA / ACA qualified (or working towards).
Previous experience as a management accountant / Finance Business Partner.
Proven success at building relationships with key stakeholders.
Identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.

The Financial Planning & Reporting team consists of a number of Management Accountants (Finance Business Partners) that support the various Directorates within the Regional Council.
The team has responsibility for coordinating the financial planning, forecasting and performance reporting of council activities.
Reporting to the Manager for Financial Planning & Reporting, this position will directly partner with and support one of the organisation’s Directorates, providing financial assistance and advice.
