Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu | Adorn the bird with feathers so it may soar.
LTED's whakatauki reflects the idea that a bird cannot fly without feathers, but if you give the bird what it needs, it can thrive. For us, this embodies the belief that as staff become more enabled and empowered, they will soar to great heights and be successful in their own way.
Our philosophy is to support staff to do as much for themselves as they can, working as their partner in learning, offering them choice, encouraging their leadership, and modelling the AUT values of tika, pono and aroha. These become the feathers they will use to spread their wings and a korowai to protect them.
