Primary objective
Undertake regulatory and compliance activities, including investigations, surveillance, covert operations across the range of legislative
frameworks administered by the agency throughout the Northern Territory. Providing high level advice and leading the coordination of
the compliance operations of Industry Capability, Licensing and MigrationNT.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake regulatory and compliance activities, and information sessions, in accordance with an enforcement and compliance program,

across a broad range of licensing and associations legislative frameworks.
2. Develop, implement and maintain effective processes, systems and internal controls to ensure effective, efficient and robust

governance frameworks for the delivery of regulatory compliance in accordance with the NT Government’s regulatory regimes and
priorities of minimising harm and protecting consumers.

3. Provide leadership and resource management of staff involved in the administration of compliance functions.
4. Develop and ensure participation in active investigative, enforcement and compliance programs in partnership with industry and other

public sector and enforcement agencies.
5. Provide evidence-based analysis and strategic advice and information on incorporated associations and compliance operational

matters.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level ability and demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying a wide range of legislation, policies and procedures in

licensing, compliance and regulatory frameworks, and demonstrated sound analytical, judgement, problem solving, investigative and
research skills.

2. Experience in the development and implementation of compliance and investigative systems, processes, and templates, or the proven
ability to acquire such skills quickly.

3. Sound oral communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice, negotiate, mediate and collaborate with a wide range of
stakeholders in government and private sector.

4. Highly developed written communication skills with experience in preparing concise and thorough reports, briefs and correspondence
with recommendations for consideration by management.

5. Proven leadership and operational management skills with ability to influence others to effectively achieve outcomes in a climate of
significant change and complexity and provide operational management advice on regulatory activities.

6. Experience in a customer service environment with the ability to quickly grasp complex issues while displaying empathy, understanding
and compassion, and proven ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

Desirable
1. Completion of a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) is highly desirable.
2. Current Driver’s Licence.
3. Qualification in law, accounting or public administration.
