Senior Database Administrator

Saint John (Onsite)

Reporting to the Manager of Business Solutions, the consultant will serve as the subject matter expert and act as a highly skilled, proactive SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA). They will provide comprehensive support for Client’s corporate database systems hosted both on-premise and within Microsoft Azure environments. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of these systems. While deep expertise in SQL Server is essential, familiarity with other database platforms will be considered a valuable asset.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•     Manage access, security, and availability of databases for the organization.

•     Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with a sense of urgency.

•     Collaborate and provide support to technical and business stakeholders.

•     Document changes to systems, database structures, and source code repositories.

•     Design, develop, install, administer, and maintain organizational databases.

•     Test for inefficiencies and prioritize improvement plans as systems evolve.

•     Support modernization initiatives.

•     Establish and maintain database standards, procedures, and monitoring tools.

•     Focus on health, performance, and storage optimization.

•     Regularly update disaster recovery strategies to ensure rapid restoration of operations.

Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. The DBA will act as the main back-up for our Full Time DBA in their absence, so the ability to work independently is also an important skill.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
