About The Role:
As the Southern Service Manager – Technology , you will be the operational and technical leader for our compliance and preventative maintenance services across the South Island. This is a pivotal role where you’ll oversee the day-to-day management of field technicians, ensure safety and quality standards are upheld, and drive the successful delivery of essential services to some of New Zealand’s most critical infrastructure clients.
You will be responsible for ensuring all service activities within your region meet compliance obligations, including preventative maintenance, electrical inspections, Trade Measurement Unit (TMU) calibration, remedial works, and permit issuing. You’ll actively manage performance against contractual KPIs, health and safety requirements, and technical standards — making sure every job is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
You will take ownership of depot operations, budget management, resource planning, and contractor coordination, while playing a hands-on role in coaching and upskilling your team. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you’ll work closely with internal teams in scheduling, billing, training, and project support to ensure seamless service delivery across all areas.
This is more than a compliance role — it’s a leadership position that blends technical expertise with people management, commercial awareness, and operational oversight. You’ll also act as a key liaison with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, representing ECL Group as a trusted subject matter expert in the field.
Preventative Maintenance programs and Trade Measurement Unit (TMU) services
Electrical inspections and remedial works
Compliance training and permit issuing
Depot operations, HSE reporting, and KPI adherence
Financial and performance management including budgeting, quoting and resource productivity
Leadership and mentoring of your direct reports
This role reports to the Regional Manager and works closely with internal teams across scheduling, projects, and people & capability.
About you:
Proven experience in service delivery and compliance management
Solid knowledge of electrical inspections, TMU, and health & safety legislation
You’ve led teams long enough to know that managing technicians isn’t for the faint-hearted — but you’ve got the patience, humour, and practical sense to handle whatever comes your way- A decent 10 years' experience in this area should do the trick!
Financial acumen – managing budgets, quotes, and contract profitability
You are Tech-savvy and still have the charm to keep clients smiling while systems reboot.
Ability to balance strategic planning with operational excellence
