About the Accounts Manager role

Due to growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Manager to join our team in Derby.
This is a key role within the office and an opportunity to work directly with the Directors to manage the professional accounting function and contribute towards our positive team culture. We are looking for ambitious, results orientated individuals who strive to meet the highest standards in their work and provide a first-class service to our clients. You will be technically excellent, a team orientated people person and have a desire to develop the knowledge of yourself and others.
Key responsibilities will include:
Controlling on an annual basis the professional work required on a range of accounts jobs ensuring that all internal, client and legislative deadlines are met.
Ensuring the firm’s standard processes are used in the production of accounts work in all aspects
Ensuring that technical standards are maintained at all times and being technically proficient to answer questions from the team.
Management of jobs within your portfolio & the staff working on those jobs. You will plan and review work to be undertaken on client matters by staff members and you will be responsible for each jobs review and progress through the practice.
Ensuring that the work planner is used and that jobs are recorded and staffed using it.
Ensure that client handling partners are kept fully informed on the monthly progress of the work areas you are responsible for.
Reviewing the work of others, having a detailed understanding of risks and issues, ensuring complete information is obtained to make effective decisions.
Provide practical advice and solutions to clients and colleagues in a timely manner.
Smooth relationships when difficult circumstances prevail. Develop a culture of trust with both the team and with clients.
Mentor, counsel, coach and support those of less experience, including individuals who are not confident in their area of competence, building morale and personal confidence and generally encouraging others to give their best performance.
About you –
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
ACA / ACCA qualified
minimum of 2-3 year’s PQE in an accountancy practice
Excellent accounting, VAT & tax knowledge, in particular corporation tax.
Experience with Iris, & MWP beneficial
Proactive and energetic in every task undertaken
Seek direction from others when appropriate, achieve objectives, drive feedback, cope well with pressure and show genuine interest
Strong desire to exceed expectations and drive own career
Confident when dealing with negative situations and difficult conversations
Adopts calm and assured approach, makes time for people, shares knowledge
Ability to juggle a number of jobs, whilst demonstrating excellent time management skills to ensure all deadlines and expectations are met.
Provides the best possible solution to problem solving and have the courage to make a difficult decision quickly.
Creates a culture of continuous improvement, convince others to have ideas, as well as encouraging and enthusing them to come up with imaginative solutions to difficult problems.
