Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
In this role, you will be working on a mix of priorities across the team's work programme, which includes reforms of the Overseas Investment Act, International Financial Institutional (IFI) governance, the Minister's and Treasury's international engagements, and Vote Foreign Affairs.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates should have a minimum of 12-18 months' policy or equivalent work experiences (such as candidates who have recently completed a graduate programme).
Working in the International team will provide an opportunity to:
Engage with international counterparts, including opportunities to travel, and represent New Zealand internationally
Regularly engage with Ministers and senior leaders across the public sector
Hone your intellectual leadership and analytical skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Enhance your relationship management skills through collaborating with a range of agencies on international issues, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Land Information New Zealand, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise
Prepare yourself for a more senior role through stretch opportunities, a focus on personal development, and a range of personalised training.

The specific experience, skills, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:
Critical thinking and strong analytical ability
Enthusiasm for developing policy analysis skills in a new area
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues and concepts clearly and succinctly
Strong relationship building skills and the ability to establish trust and influence relatively quickly
An interest in international economics - an economics background will be advantageous, but is not essential.
An ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
An ability to work with others to develop solutions to complex problems
A generous, team-player attitude
Preferably, an ability to hold a New Zealand Government Security Clearance
