Job description, work day and responsibilities

Due to continued growth in the School, we are looking to recruit two Associate Professors in Accounting. In this teaching focussed role, you will provide inspiration and leadership to the delivery and development of the School’s undergraduate and taught postgraduate provision in accounting, working in line with the School’s Strategy. The successful applicant will provide academic and professional leadership within the School and across their own specialism, ensuring excellence in teaching and curriculum design on an international level.

You will develop and deliver high quality lectures and seminars on a range of accounting areas as well as undertaking scholarship or pedagogical research to underpin innovation in accounting teaching and to enhance the student experience is also strongly encouraged. Most importantly, you will play an active role in ensuring that our students receive an accounting education that allows them to make the very best of their potential.
About you
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in the field of accounting and hold membership with a recognised professional body such as ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA, or CIMA. You will have a substantial track record of delivering high-quality teaching to trainee accountants or university students, with evidence of excellent student outcomes. Experience in module and curriculum design, incorporating innovative, research-informed teaching practices, is essential.

You should demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development in teaching and show evidence of supporting the development of students and colleagues. Engagement in external assessment and review processes, as well as involvement in significant internal and external committees and groups, is expected. A Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or an equivalent accredited teaching qualification is desirable, or a commitment to obtain such a qualification upon appointment.

Key skills include the ability to lead and manage teams effectively, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and the capacity to develop resources that enhance teaching quality. You should be adept at delivering classes through various methods, including lectures, seminars, and tutoring, and possess strong coaching and mentoring abilities. A commitment to providing high-quality service to students and the ability to plan and organise work programmes are essential.
