As Strategic Communications Specialist (Chancellery) at the University of Melbourne, you'll play a pivotal role in showcasing the institution's world-leading research, education, and community impact to enhance its global reputation. You'll develop and execute integrated communication strategies that align with university priorities, engage diverse stakeholders, and navigate complex public affairs issues. This role offers you the opportunity to shape the narrative of one of Australia's top universities and tell inspirational stories on the transformative impact of education and research and the role universities can play within our communities.
Your responsibilities will include:
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute integrated communication plans aligned with institutional priorities.
Content Creation: Produce high-quality written materials for diverse channels, including proactive media stories, reactive media responses, staff engagement stories and social media content.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and messaging alignment.
Senior Leadership Support: Provide expert communications advice and support to university leaders.
Crisis Communications: Handle public affairs issues and contribute to crisis communication strategies.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a strategic communicator with extensive experience in developing and delivering impactful communication plans, possessing strong writing skills and the ability to navigate multiple stakeholders in complex organisational environments.
You may also:
Hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
Demonstrate a track record of delivering successful communication strategies in complex organisations.
Show the ability to work independently and lead projects with minimal supervision.
Have experience in crisis communications and public affairs management.
